The Avenue, Harrow

The brief was to create additional floor space by way of an open plan kitchen/dining and family lounge area and a study space for a young family in North West London.  The original house was in need of an update and was limited with cooking space.  The result was the proposal was to construct a large extension via Prior Approval (submitted and approved by Harrow council) at the rear of the existing house in the form of a 'barn' profile, maximising height and depth to increase internal volume.  As part of the design, the extension included full width bifolding doors and high level windows at the rear elevation of the extension flooded the internal house with natural light to the depth of the house.

The new open plan layout has transformed the flow of space of the house with a new ground floor shower/WC, study, and an open plan kitchen/dining and family lounge.
