JLArchitecture were approached to create a ground floor extension and to provide design ideas to reconfigure a family home in St Albans.

Following the homeowners return from overeseas where they very much enjoyed the outdoor living and entertainment, the design of the extension took inspirations from their time whilst living abroad.  The result of the extension comprised of an extension to offer more dining space with a corner opening bifold that opens out onto a covered dining area with a barbecue.  

The zinc cladded roof overhang design gives the option to dine outside in all weather conditions and improves the connection between the interior and garden space.

Internally, the garage on the ground floor has been converted into a study with an ensuite, a new utility and WC has been created.  The original WC on the hallway has been relocated to allow a wider hallway to be achieved. On the first floor, the bathroom and ensuites has also been refurbished and given a new décor.
