Godfrey Street, Chelsea
The clients brief for the project at Godfrey Street was to provide additional living spaces by creating a basement extension under the footprint of their terraced house. Approval was granted by The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to develop the basement excavation project which involved producing a careful traffic management plan to ensure construction vehicles would safely manoeuvre along this narrow street.
With the creation of a basement extension, the ground floor kitchen was relocated to the basement level along with a new lounge/TV area and a new toilet under the new staircase.
A new plant room was also sited at the front of the basement housing all the mechanical equipment such as the water tank, boiler, underfloor heating manifold.
